I'm looking for some new forum games to help liven up our community board. We've been doing the classic word association and "post a picture of your pet" threads, but participation has dropped off lately. I need some fresh ideas that are easy to join, don't require a huge time commitment, and can keep people coming back. Maybe something with a weekly theme or a collaborative storytelling game? What are the most engaging forum games you've seen or participated in that actually build a sense of community and get a good number of replies?

Prompts alone will not cut it you need easy friction free posting plus small rewards to coax new folks to start threads

In my forum we ran a weekly theme plus micro challenges and gave simple templates for new posts the activity grew

People love quick friendly tasks that fit a lunch break and a little bragging rights never hurts

A collaborative story thread where everyone adds a single sentence can keep people replying for weeks
