My new laptop keeps randomly freezing for a few seconds, it happens when I'm just browsing the web or working on a document, not even doing anything intensive. It's a brand new model I got just last month. I've updated all the drivers and run antivirus scans but nothing seems to fix it. It's really annoying when I'm trying to get work done. I'm starting to think there might be a hardware issue.

That sounds rough a brand new laptop freezing with no obvious cause is really frustrating

In my case a flaky RAM module caused random freezes a memory test revealed it and swapping the RAM fixed it

A lot of times drivers or firmware updates can cause freezes during idle or web browsing so a clean boot to test helps but hardware is often at fault

If it keeps freezing you should contact support and arrange service under warranty or a repair
