Is - RPA worth the hassle for a small business?

I've been reading about - RPA to automate some of our boring data entry tasks. It sounds great but the setup seems really complex and expensive. We're a team of five people, so I'm not sure if it's overkill. I tried a free trial of one tool and got stuck in the first hour. Maybe we're just too small for this.
RPA can be worth it but it is not for every small business If you have five people start tiny Map one boring process prove the time saved and test a simple tool before committing to a full setup Scope matters for workflow automation ROI
Try a two week pilot with a single process Use a low code tool to automate the steps track time saved errors and the cost of ownership If ROI looks good you scale if not you pivot quickly
Consider easy alternatives like macro automation or scripting An Excel macro Google Apps Script or a no code platform can handle data entry and reporting without heavy RPA They often deliver real value with lower risk
Watch for maintenance and vendor lock in Bots need updating when workflows change Put an owner in charge document steps and set governance so the project fits into your overall workflow automation plan
Want a tiny plan tailored to your setup Tell me what tasks you want to automate and what tools you use and I will sketch a two week pilot plan with goals and a rough budget
