Cybersecurity best practices often focus on strong passwords and updates, but sometimes the weakest link is a simple habit, like reusing a password for a low-stakes account that gets breached and then used elsewhere. What's one habit you had to consciously change to improve your personal security?
I used to reuse the same password on many sites and got burned. I switched to a password manager and turned on two factor authentication wherever possible. Now I have unique long passwords and a second factor at login, which stops breaches in their tracks.
Another habit that stuck was quitting browser saved passwords. I moved everything to a password manager and stopped auto filling on shared computers. It feels safer and forces me to log in properly on each site.
I replaced SMS based two factor with an authenticator app and a hardware security key for top accounts. It took a learning curve, but the extra step is worth it when the risk of SIM swap is real.
I audit connected apps and revoke access for anything unused every few months. It used to be I ignored old tokens, now I prune and it cuts backdoor access.
Cybersecurity best practices 2025 trends show that many people move to password managers and security keys and that shift has made my life simpler and safer.
