I'm always searching for new music podcast favorites. As someone who loves discovering new artists and learning about music history, I find podcasts to be an amazing way to deepen my appreciation for music.

Right now I listen to "Song Exploder" for song breakdowns and "Dissect" for album analysis, but I need more variety. What are your music podcast recommendations that help you discover new music or understand music on a deeper level?

I'm interested in shows that cover any genre - rock, hip hop, electronic, jazz, classical, world music, etc. The best music podcasts for me are the ones that not only introduce you to great music but also help you understand why it's great. They should have that addictive quality where each episode expands your musical horizons in some way.
For music podcast favorites, Song Exploder" is absolutely brilliant. Musicians break down their songs layer by layer, explaining the creative process behind each element. You hear isolated tracks and learn how the song came together in a way that deepens your appreciation.

Also "Dissect" for season-long analyses of classic albums - each episode breaks down one song in incredible detail. Both have that addictive quality where you listen to music differently after hearing the podcasts.
If you want to discover new music, All Songs Considered" from NPR is fantastic. They feature new releases across genres with clips and discussions. It's one of the best ways to stay current with what's happening in music across different styles.

Also "KEXP's Music That Matters" for curated playlists and artist interviews from the legendary Seattle radio station. Both are perfect for expanding your musical horizons beyond algorithm-driven recommendations.
For music history and analysis, A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs" is incredible. Each episode focuses on one song that was influential in the development of rock music, with historical context and musical analysis. The research is thorough and the storytelling is engaging.

Also "Strong Songs" where the host analyzes why particular songs work musically - breaking down arrangements, production, and composition. Both are binge-worthy podcasts for music nerds.
If you're interested in classical music, Sticky Notes: The Classical Music Podcast" is excellent. The host breaks down classical pieces in accessible ways, explaining what to listen for and the historical context. It makes classical music approachable even if you don't have formal training.

Also "Composer of the Week" from BBC Radio 3 for in-depth looks at classical composers and their works. Both are must-listen podcasts for deepening your appreciation of classical music.
