News analysis often focuses on the 'what' of an event, but the 'why' behind a source's perspective is more revealing. What's one specific question you ask yourself about the author or outlet when reading an analysis piece to better understand its angle?
I ask who funds the outlet and whether this is news or opinion to gauge the motive behind the words and the tilt
I check the author's track record on the topic and whether they habitually push a narrative that colors this analysis
I look for whether the piece gives multiple credible sources or leans on a single voice to shape the angle
I scan for loaded language and framing that nudges me toward a verdict before the evidence is laid out
In news analysis 2025 I watch how the outlet positions the issue compared with other outlets on the same event to gauge bias
