Achieving product market fit is the goal, but the signals can be ambiguous early on. What's a non-obvious metric or piece of qualitative feedback that gave you the first real confidence you were solving a genuine problem for people?
Early on a small team we watched a quiet signal that felt stronger than any big metric. A handful of beta users kept returning to one feature and described a concrete use case in their own words. That feedback showed the problem was real and the fix saved time, guiding our next release.
Word of mouth growth was the true signal. When a few users started recommending it in chat without prompting, we knew we were onto something beyond vanity metrics.
Another non obvious signal was how fast a common task could be completed after a tweak. We measured time to finish a standard workflow and saw a meaningful drop that stuck across a small test group. The feedback from users confirmed it felt easier, not just faster, which is what we wanted to prove.
Qualitative input from a key stakeholder who used the product daily and said it saved trouble and helped focus was a strong indicator that we were solving a real need beyond numbers.
Seeing a direct thank you after applying a feature felt more real than any chart. The story from users about time saved and better decisions convinced the team this was not a fluke. This kind of resonance aligns with product market fit 2025 trends and shows we are solving a real job for people, which is the deepest signal you can get before a full rollout.
