Most DAWs come with a bunch of built-in plugins, but which ones are actually good for beginners? I'm talking about the free DAW plugins for beginners that come with Reaper, FL Studio, Ableton, Logic, etc. Some of these stock plugins are surprisingly powerful, while others... not so much. What are your experiences with the plugins that come with your DAW? Are there any that you still use regularly even though you have fancier third-party options?
I use Reaper, and its stock plugins are actually really powerful. The ReaPlugins suite has everything you need - EQ, compression, reverb, delay, etc. They're not fancy looking, but they sound good and are CPU efficient. For beginners, I think Reaper's built-in plugins are some of the best free DAW plugins for beginners because they teach you the fundamentals without distraction.
FL Studio has great stock plugins too. Fruity Limiter is surprisingly capable - it can do compression, limiting, and even gate/expansion. The Parametric EQ 2 is excellent for learning EQ. And Sytrus is a monster synth if you take the time to learn it. These free DAW plugins for beginners are often overlooked because people assume they need third-party stuff, but FL's built-ins are professional quality.
Ableton Live's stock devices are amazing. The EQ Eight, Glue Compressor, and Simple Delay are all I use most of the time. The built-in instruments like Operator and Analog are powerful too. I think beginners should really master their DAW's native plugins before looking elsewhere. You can make professional music with just the free DAW plugins that come with your software.
