I'm particularly interested in anything that's come out this year or been significantly updated. I've been collecting free plugin bundles for producers and some of them are surprisingly comprehensive. Any hidden gems that have flown under the radar?
2025 has been amazing for free plugins! The best free VST plugins 2025 release I've found so far is the updated Vital synth - they added a bunch of new features and it's still free. Also, Spitfire released new LABS instruments this year that are gorgeous. For effects, ChowDSP released some new free plugins that are really innovative. I've been collecting free plugin bundles for producers and the 2025 offerings are better than ever.
I've been really impressed with the free analog emulation plugins that have come out this year. Some new developers are doing amazing work with circuit modeling. There's a free tube preamp plugin that came out recently that sounds surprisingly authentic. Also, the free spectral analysis tools available now are getting really sophisticated - some rival paid options.
The free orchestral VST plugins scene has improved a lot in 2025. There are some new libraries with better scripting and more articulations. Also, I've noticed more developers offering their older paid plugins for free as they release new versions. It's a great time to be collecting free virtual instrument plugins - the quality keeps getting better.
