I've been writing screenplays for about three years now, and while I love the creative part, I feel like my actual writing process is kind of a mess. I spend way too much time researching, then get stuck in endless revisions, and sometimes I'll write scenes out of order which creates continuity issues later.
I really want to improve my writing process to be more streamlined and efficient. I've tried different methods - outlining everything first, writing without editing, using specific software - but nothing seems to stick.
What are some concrete ways you've managed to improve your writing process? Are there specific systems or habits that have made a real difference in your productivity and the quality of your work?
I'm especially interested in how you balance planning with actual writing time, and how you handle the drafting and editing process without getting stuck in endless loops.
