I've been working on my novel for months now and sometimes I just hit this wall where nothing feels creative anymore. The words feel flat, the characters feel one-dimensional, and I can't seem to come up with anything interesting.
I know we all face creative blocks, but what are some actual writing tips for creativity that have worked for you? I'm not talking about the usual "take a walk" advice - I mean specific techniques or exercises that actually help generate new ideas or break through mental barriers.
For me, sometimes changing my environment helps - going to a coffee shop instead of writing at home. Other times I'll try writing from a different character's perspective even if it won't end up in the final draft. But I'm always looking for more tools in my toolbox.
What writing techniques have you found most effective for sparking creativity when you're feeling stuck?
