One area of texting etiquette that often gets confusing is knowing when to switch between casual and professional communication styles. The rules are different when you're texting a friend versus a colleague or client.

For example, excessive emoji usage might be fine with friends but problematic in professional contexts. Leaving messages on read might be acceptable casually but rude in work communication. Even things like response time expectations change dramatically.
