Full Version: Is texting while driving still a common problem despite all the warnings?

I was driving yesterday and saw three different people clearly texting while driving at stoplights. It got me thinking about how despite all the campaigns and warnings, this seems to still be a major problem.

Texting while driving isn't just bad texting etiquette - it's dangerous and illegal in most places. But I wonder if the constant notifications and pressure to respond immediately contribute to this behavior. People feel like they can't wait, even when they're operating heavy machinery.

Have you noticed this problem in your area? What do you think would actually reduce texting while driving? And how do we balance the need for immediate communication with basic safety?
