Building my first serious gaming setup and want to know what PC gaming gear is actually essential versus just marketing. Looking for recommendations on everything from mice and keyboards to monitors and headsets. What makes a real difference in competitive play?

For essential PC gaming gear, a good gaming mouse is non-negotiable. The Logitech G Pro X Superlight is my main recommendation - it's lightweight, has great sensors, and the battery lasts forever. For keyboards, mechanical is the way to go. I use a Keychron Q3 with linear switches for smooth keystrokes during long sessions.
Monitor is huge for competitive play. You want at least 144Hz, but 240Hz is better if your PC can push those frames. Response time matters too - look for 1ms. I use a 27-inch 1440p 240Hz monitor and the smoothness makes a real difference in fast-paced games. Don't cheap out on the display.
A good headset is essential too. The HyperX Cloud Alpha has been my go-to for years - comfortable for long sessions, good sound quality, and a decent mic. For wireless, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is premium but worth it if you hate cables. Noise cancellation helps block out distractions during ranked matches.
