Sound design was something I completely underestimated when I started making games. I've learned some hard game sound design lessons over the years, and now I consider it just as important as visuals.
One of the biggest game sound design lessons for me was learning that less is often more. Having too many sounds playing at once can create audio clutter that actually makes the game feel worse. Proper mixing and layering are crucial.
