Pick the platform where your customers actually are (for most local businesses, that's Instagram or Facebook) and create one really good piece of content per week.
For content marketing strategies that work with limited resources, I love the concept of content repurposing." Create one longer piece of content (like a 2-minute video showing how to make your signature drink) and then break it down into:
- 3-4 Instagram posts with different clips
- A carousel post with step-by-step photos
- A blog post with the recipe
- An email newsletter feature
- A Pinterest pin
One piece of content, multiple uses. This is how you make content creation sustainable for small businesses.
From an automation perspective, I'd focus on creating evergreen" content that continues to work for you over time, rather than timely content that expires quickly.
For a coffee shop, this could be:
- A guide to different coffee brewing methods
- Explanation of coffee bean types and flavors
- How to choose the right coffee for your taste
- The history of coffee in your city/region
This type of content continues to bring in search traffic months or years after you create it. You can also automate the promotion of this content - set up automated social media posts to share it periodically, include it in welcome email sequences, etc.
For video marketing for small businesses, I'd start with simple "talking head" videos where you explain something about coffee. You don't need fancy equipment - just good lighting and clear audio. These can be repurposed into audio podcasts, blog posts, social media clips, etc.
The most effective content marketing strategies for small businesses are the ones that solve customer problems or answer their questions. Think about what your customers ask you about coffee, and create content around those topics.
For a coffee shop, this might be:

- "How should I store coffee beans at home?"
- "Why does coffee sometimes taste bitter?"

This type of content positions you as an expert, builds trust, and actually helps your customers. And because it's answering real questions, it's more likely to be found through search.
From an ROI perspective, track which content pieces lead to email signups (offer a free coffee guide in exchange for email) or which topics get the most engagement. Double down on what works.
