I'm trying to help my younger brother with his high school math and science work, and I'm looking for reliable homework assistance platforms. There are so many out there claiming to offer help, but I want to know which ones actually deliver quality explanations and don't just give answers. Has anyone used homework assistance platforms that actually helped you understand the material better rather than just getting through the assignment?
Khan Academy is still my go to for math and science explanations. The videos are clear and they have practice problems with step by step solutions. For high school level stuff, it's hard to beat. Also check out Paul's Online Math Notes if he's doing calculus. That site saved me in calc 1 and 2.
I've been impressed with Brilliant.org for math and science concepts. They focus on interactive learning and building intuition rather than just memorization. It's subscription based but they often have free trials. The way they break down complex ideas into understandable chunks is really effective.
For homework assistance platforms, I'd recommend starting with free resources before paying for anything. YouTube has amazing educational channels like 3Blue1Brown for math intuition or Crash Course for overviews. Organic Chemistry Tutor on YouTube is fantastic for chemistry problems. The quality of free content has gotten so good that it often rivals paid services.
Don't overlook library resources. Many public libraries offer free access to homework assistance platforms like Tutor.com through their websites. You just need a library card. Also, some school districts provide free access to certain platforms for students. Worth checking what's already available through existing institutions.
