My phone Bluetooth connectivity has been driving me crazy lately. I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 and it keeps randomly disconnecting from my car stereo and wireless headphones. Sometimes it'll stay connected for hours, other times it drops every few minutes. I've tried forgetting and re-pairing all my devices, clearing the Bluetooth cache, and even did a factory reset on my headphones. The weird thing is, my old phone connects perfectly to the same devices. Is this a common phone Bluetooth connectivity issue with newer phones, or could there be something wrong with my specific device? Any troubleshooting steps I might have missed?
Phone Bluetooth connectivity problems like this are often interference related. Try turning off WiFi temporarily when using Bluetooth - the 2.4GHz band can get crowded. Also, check if you have any other Bluetooth devices nearby that might be causing conflicts. Some newer phones have aggressive power saving that turns off Bluetooth when not actively transferring data, which can cause disconnections.
Samsung's battery optimization can sometimes kill Bluetooth connections. Go to Settings > Apps > Special Access > Optimize Battery Usage and make sure your Bluetooth devices aren't being optimized. Also check Developer Options for Bluetooth settings - sometimes changing the AVRCP version or codec can help with phone Bluetooth connectivity stability.
I had the exact same phone Bluetooth connectivity issues with my S22. Turned out to be a hardware problem with the Bluetooth antenna. The repair was actually pretty simple - they replaced a small antenna cable that had come loose. If your old phone works fine with the same devices, it's almost certainly your phone's Bluetooth hardware. Could be as simple as a loose connection inside.
Check if the problem happens with all Bluetooth devices or just specific ones. If it's all devices, it's your phone. If it's just certain devices, it might be compatibility issues. Also, try resetting network settings (this will erase WiFi passwords and Bluetooth pairings). Sometimes corrupted Bluetooth settings cause these phone Bluetooth connectivity problems.
