I'm having this super frustrating issue with my Google Pixel 6 where it's not charging properly. The weird thing is, the cable and charger work perfectly with my wife's phone, but when I plug mine in, it either doesn't charge at all or charges extremely slowly. Sometimes it'll show the charging icon but the percentage actually goes down while plugged in. I've tried different outlets, different cables, even wireless charging which also seems inconsistent. I've cleaned the charging port with compressed air and a toothpick (carefully). Anyone else dealing with phone not charging properly issues? Could this be a battery problem or something with the charging circuitry?
Phone not charging properly issues on Pixels are often related to the charging port itself. These USB-C ports can get worn out or the little tongue inside can get bent. Try shining a flashlight into the port and look for any debris or damage. Sometimes pocket lint compacts at the back of the port and prevents the cable from seating properly. Use a plastic toothpick (NOT metal) to gently scrape out any debris. If you see the port looks damaged or the center piece is loose, that's likely your phone not charging properly problem.
I've seen this exact phone not charging properly behavior on several phones. When the battery percentage goes down while plugged in, it usually means the phone is using more power than it's receiving. This could be because the port is damaged, the cable isn't making good contact, or there's an app draining excessive battery. Try putting the phone in airplane mode while charging to see if it charges then. If it does, something is draining your battery faster than it can charge.
Check if your phone is getting hot while charging. Sometimes when there's phone not charging properly issues, the phone detects overheating and throttles the charging speed for safety. Also, try a different charging brick - not just a different cable. The brick itself could be failing and not providing enough power. I had a similar issue where my phone would only charge with certain chargers.
If wireless charging is also inconsistent, that points to a battery or charging circuit problem rather than just the port. The phone not charging properly through both wired and wireless methods suggests it's not a port issue. Could be a failing battery that can't hold a charge properly, or issues with the power management IC. You might need professional diagnosis for this one.
