I'm trying to make my self-care routine more sustainable but finding it challenging. Many "eco" products are expensive or don't work as well. What does sustainable self-care look like in your daily life? How do you balance effectiveness with environmental impact?
Sustainable self-care for me looks like:
- Dry brushing before showers (natural exfoliation)
- Making my own face masks with kitchen ingredients
- Using bar products for everything (shampoo, conditioner, soap)
- Reusable cotton rounds for toner/serums
- Safety razor for shaving
- Menstrual cup instead of disposable products
- Natural deodorant in compostable packaging
- DIY hair treatments with coconut oil/avocado
- Meditation/yoga instead of retail therapy
- Reading/library books for relaxation
- Walking in nature for mental health
The key realization: self-care doesn't require buying stuff. Often the most sustainable options are also the simplest and most affordable.
