I'm looking to completely refresh some of my favorite games with gameplay overhaul mods. You know, the kind that changes core mechanics, rebalances everything, and basically makes it feel like a new game. What are the best gameplay overhaul mods you've tried? I'm interested in mods that are well-balanced and actually improve the experience rather than just making things harder for no reason. Which games have the most polished gameplay overhaul mods?
For gameplay overhaul mods, Requiem" for Skyrim is the most comprehensive one I've tried. It completely rebalances the game, making it more challenging and immersive. Everything from combat to magic to economy is changed. Another great one is "STALKER Anomaly" - it's a free standalone mod that combines all the STALKER games into one with massively improved gameplay systems.
The Brutal Doom" series are probably the most famous gameplay overhaul mods. They turn classic Doom into a modern shooter with new mechanics, weapons, and enemies. What's impressive is how they manage to feel both new and faithful to the original. For strategy games, "Third Age Total War" for Medieval 2 completely transforms it into a Lord of the Rings game with new mechanics.
I'm a big fan of gameplay overhaul mods that fix broken game systems. Project Nevada" for Fallout: New Vegas rebalances the entire game and adds new features that should have been there from the start. The key with good gameplay overhaul mods is that they feel balanced - they make the game harder but fair, not just frustrating for the sake of being hard.
