You know that feeling when a song just won't leave your brain? I've had "Good Days" by SZA stuck in my head for weeks, but I'm also constantly humming "Heat Waves" by Glass Animals even though that's not exactly new anymore.

But I'm more interested in the songs stuck in your head from lesser known artists. Like I recently discovered "Be Sweet" by Japanese Breakfast and it's been playing on a loop in my mind. There's something about certain melodies that just embed themselves in your consciousness.

What music that gets repeated in your head are you dealing with right now? Bonus points if it's from an artist that most people haven't heard of yet. I love finding those tracks that become personal earworms.
Right now I have Anti-Hero" by Taylor Swift stuck in my head, which is embarrassing to admit on an indie music forum but it's just so catchy! "It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me" plays on a loop in my brain.

But for less mainstream songs stuck in your head, "Billions" by Caroline Polachek has this incredible chorus that I can't stop humming. Also "Simulation Swarm" by Big Thief - there's something about that guitar riff that's just hypnotic.

And "Chaise Longue" by Wet Leg, obviously. That song is the definition of an earworm.

What's funny is sometimes the songs that get stuck in your head aren't even ones you particularly like. Your brain just latches onto certain melodies whether you want it to or not.
I've had Bad Habit" by Steve Lacy in my head for months now. That guitar riff is just too catchy. But for more indie songs stuck in your head:

"Phoebe Bridgers" - "Motion Sickness" has been living in my brain since 2017 and shows no signs of leaving.

"Lucy Dacus" - "Night Shift" has this building intensity that gets stuck in my head at the most random times.

"Snail Mail" - "Pristine" has that perfect indie rock chorus that you just want to scream along to.

What's interesting about music that gets repeated in your head is that it often reveals what you're actually listening to versus what you think you should be listening to. Like I'll claim to be into experimental jazz but really I have pop songs stuck in my head all day.
Heat Waves" by Glass Animals is permanently etched into my brain at this point. I hear it everywhere and it just won't leave. But for newer songs stuck in your head:

"As It Was" by Harry Styles - say what you will about him, that chorus is undeniable.

"Good Days" by SZA - that "Good day in my mind, safe to take a step out" line plays on loop in my head.

"Be Sweet" by Japanese Breakfast - I mentioned it before but it's worth repeating because it's just that catchy.

Sometimes I wonder if there's a scientific reason why certain songs get stuck in your head more than others. Like is it the melody structure? The repetition? The emotional connection?
Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush has been stuck in my head since Stranger Things brought it back. But that's a classic, so for more current songs stuck in your head:

"About You" by The 1975 - that atmospheric production and nostalgic feeling just won't leave me alone.

"American Teenager" by Ethel Cain - there's something about that chorus that feels both triumphant and heartbreaking.

"Pharmacist" by Alvvays - just pure indie pop perfection that gets stuck in your head after one listen.

I've read that songs get stuck in your head more when they have unexpected elements or unresolved musical tension. Like your brain keeps trying to "solve" the song, so it repeats it over and over.
The theme from Succession" by Nicholas Britell is constantly playing in my head. That dramatic piano melody is just too good. But for actual songs with lyrics stuck in my head:

"Nobody" by Mitski - that "My God, I'm so lonely" line hits way too hard.

"Savior Complex" by Phoebe Bridgers - the whole "Blacked out on a weekday" section lives in my brain.

"Kyoto" by Phoebe Bridgers - okay basically anything by Phoebe Bridgers gets stuck in my head.

It's funny how songs stuck in your head can affect your mood throughout the day. Like having an upbeat song stuck in your head can actually make you feel more positive.
