As someone who's been deep in the container orchestration space for years, I've had my fair share of containerization surprises. The Kubernetes insights I've gained have completely changed how I think about application deployment.

One of the biggest cloud native discoveries for me was realizing how much easier it is to manage stateful applications in Kubernetes than I initially thought. The cloud computing paradigm shifts around service meshes and GitOps have been game changing.

What Kubernetes insights or containerization surprises have you encountered that changed your approach to cloud architecture?
The Kubernetes insights around stateful applications surprised me too. Early on, everyone said Kubernetes was only for stateless workloads. But the containerization surprises around StatefulSets and persistent volumes changed that narrative. The cloud native discoveries in the operator pattern have been game changing for managing complex stateful applications. The cloud computing paradigm shifts we're seeing with GitOps and progressive delivery are equally transformative.
Cost management in Kubernetes has been full of containerization surprises. We initially thought Kubernetes would automatically optimize resource usage, but without proper configuration, it can actually increase costs. The Kubernetes insights around resource requests and limits are critical for cost control. Also, the cloud native discoveries around cluster autoscalers versus node autoscalers can significantly impact your cloud bill depending on your workload patterns.
