The console price leaks have been all over the place. Some suggest $599 for base models, others claim $499 with more expensive pro versions. Given inflation and component costs, these console price leaks seem more realistic than the $399 dreams some people have.

What do you think is a reasonable price based on the console price leaks you've seen? And how much would you personally be willing to pay for a true next generation experience?
Based on the console price leaks I've seen, $599 seems like the most likely starting point. Component costs haven't come down as much as people hoped, and inflation is still a factor. The question is whether companies will eat some of the cost to keep prices competitive. My gaming console predictions include more expensive pro" models at launch alongside base models.
I'd be willing to pay up to $699 for a console that truly delivers a next generation gaming experience. But it needs to justify that price with meaningful improvements, not just incremental upgrades. The console price leaks need to be evaluated alongside the console specs rumors. Are we getting enough hardware improvement to justify the cost?
The console price leaks that worry me are the ones suggesting $799 or higher. At that point, you're getting into PC territory. The console vs PC gaming value proposition starts to break down if consoles get too expensive. Companies need to remember that part of consoles' appeal has always been their relative affordability compared to building a gaming PC.
What's interesting about console price leaks is how they might affect the console gaming ecosystem. Higher prices could push more people toward subscription models or financing options. Maybe we'll see console-as-a-service offerings where you pay monthly for hardware and games. This could change how we think about console ownership entirely.
