I just completed what might be my best furniture restoration success yet - turned a beat-up mid-century dresser into a showpiece. The process was challenging but so rewarding. Anyone else have furniture restoration success stories to share?
Found a beat-up mid-century dresser on the side of the road. Stripped it, sanded it, stained it walnut, replaced the hardware. Now it's the centerpiece of my bedroom. The furniture restoration success feeling is addictive!
Restored an antique rocking chair that belonged to my grandmother. The wood was cracked, the finish was gone, the cane seat was broken. Spent months learning traditional techniques. Now it's not just furniture, it's a family heirloom I saved.
Turned an old door into a dining table. Found a solid wood door at a salvage yard, added hairpin legs, sealed it with epoxy. The character marks tell a story. Everyone who sees it asks where we bought it.
Refinished a set of four dining chairs from the 60s. The upholstery was disgusting, the wood was scratched. Reupholstered them with modern fabric, stripped and restained the wood. They look like high-end designer chairs now.
Saved a water-damaged dresser from going to the dump. The top was warped, drawers stuck. Planed the top flat, repaired the drawers, painted it a beautiful navy blue with gold hardware. Now it's my favorite piece in the guest room.
