I've been working on furniture restoration for years and some of my best transformations were budget-friendly DIY success stories. Just finished turning an old dresser into a beautiful bathroom vanity for under $100. What are your favorite project transformations that saved you serious cash?
I turned an old entertainment center into a kids' play kitchen. Found it on the curb, spent about $30 on paint and hardware, and now it's the most played-with toy in the house. Best budget-friendly DIY success I've had!
Painted my kitchen cabinets instead of replacing them. The quote for new cabinets was over $5k. Did it myself for about $200 in supplies. They look brand new and it completely transformed the kitchen. Such a good budget-friendly DIY success.
Built a patio with pavers from a local discount supplier. Professional quote was $8k, did it myself for under $1,500 including renting a compactor. Took two weekends with friends helping but the savings were incredible.
Refinished an old dining table I found on Facebook Marketplace for $50. Sanded it down, stained it, added new legs. Looks like a $1,000+ table now. The transformation was amazing and cost me maybe $100 total.
Installed a smart thermostat myself. Electrician wanted $300 for installation, did it in 20 minutes following YouTube instructions. Already saving on energy bills too. Sometimes the simplest DIY project transformations save the most money.
