I'm tired of my plain white walls but I don't have a huge budget for a complete makeover. I'm looking for budget painting ideas that can add some personality without costing a fortune. I've heard about accent walls, stenciling, and other techniques, but I'm not sure where to start. What are some creative painting techniques or color combinations that work well on a budget? Also, any tips for saving money on paint and supplies would be really helpful!
One of my favorite budget painting ideas is using painter's tape to create geometric patterns. I did a simple chevron pattern on one wall in my office and it looks amazing. The tape was maybe $10 and I used leftover paint from another project. There are tons of tutorials online for different patterns you can create with just tape and paint.
I love the ombre effect for an accent wall. You start with a dark color at the bottom and gradually blend to a lighter shade at the top. It's easier than it looks - you just need three shades of the same color family and a lot of blending with a dry brush. I did this in my bedroom and it creates such a calming atmosphere.
For saving money on paint, always check the mistint section at home improvement stores. These are colors that were mixed wrong for someone else and they sell them at a huge discount. I've gotten gallons for $5 instead of $40. You have to be flexible on color, but you can find some really nice shades.
Stenciling is another great budget option. You can buy reusable stencils online or make your own with cardboard. I did a Moroccan pattern on my dining room wall and it looks like expensive wallpaper. The stencil was $15 and I used a sample size of paint that cost $3. Total transformation for under $20.
Don't forget about painting ceilings! A light blue or soft gray on the ceiling can make a room feel more spacious. It's a subtle change but really effective. Also, painting interior doors a contrasting color adds character. I did my doors black and it made everything look more intentional and designed.
