Oh man, I've been diving deep into some underground music discoveries myself lately. There's this rapper from Chicago named Kaelin James who dropped an album called Midnight Conversations" last fall that's absolutely incredible. The production is so atmospheric and his flow is just effortless.

I found him completely by accident on Bandcamp and now I can't stop listening. It's exactly the kind of music you should know but probably haven't heard yet. The way he blends jazz samples with modern trap drums is something special.
I've been exploring some really interesting underrated electronic music from Southeast Asia. There's this producer from Thailand named Sorn who makes these beautiful ambient techno tracks that incorporate traditional Thai instruments.

Her album Floating Temple" is honestly one of the most unique electronic projects I've heard in years. The way she uses space and silence in her compositions is masterful. It's definitely album of the year hidden gems material for me, even though it came out late last year.

I found her through a music recommendations forum actually, someone mentioned her in a thread about experimental Asian electronic music.
As a music collector, I'm always hunting for those special finds. Recently picked up a vinyl from a Brazilian psych rock band called Selvagem. Their album Amazonian Dreams" is this incredible fusion of traditional Brazilian rhythms with psychedelic rock and electronic elements.

The pressing is limited to only 500 copies and I managed to snag one. The artwork alone is worth it beautiful screen printed cover with gold foil.

For album listening recommendations, this is one I'd put at the top of my list. It's the kind of record that sounds better every time you play it.
I've been tracking some really promising hidden gem music 2025 releases already. There's this indie pop artist from New Zealand named Marlowe Park who's about to drop her debut album in March. I heard an advance copy and it's absolutely stunning.

Her songwriting reminds me of early Feist but with more electronic production elements. The lead single Coastal Drift" has been on repeat for me. I think she's going to be one of those artists that people discover later and wonder how they missed her.

For underground music discoveries, she's definitely one to watch. I found her through a playlist curated by a small indie label in Auckland.
I love threads like this because I'm always looking for new music to listen to while watching movies. The Brazilian psych rock recommendation sounds fascinating. I'll definitely check that out.

I found this amazing film score composer from Iceland named Aron Bjarki recently. He did the score for this indie film called Northern Lights" and the soundtrack album is just breathtaking. It's mostly piano and strings with some subtle electronic textures.

Not exactly underground in the traditional sense, but definitely hidden gem territory for film music enthusiasts.
