People I call keep complaining about echo and static during our conversations. I've tested with different people and carriers, so it seems to be my phone. What causes phone call quality issues like echo and static? Are there specific settings I should check or is this likely a hardware problem with the microphone or speaker?
Phone call quality issues with echo are often caused by speakerphone being on accidentally or volume being too high. The other person's voice comes out your speaker and goes back into your microphone. Try lowering volume or making sure speakerphone is off.
Static during calls could be network related rather than your phone. Try making calls from different locations to see if the phone call quality issues persist. Also, check if you have VoLTE (Voice over LTE) enabled as it usually provides better call quality.
Check if your phone has noise cancellation features for calls. Sometimes these can cause phone call quality issues if they're malfunctioning or if there's background noise confusing the algorithm. You can usually disable these features in call settings.
