People keep telling me they can't hear me clearly during calls. I've tested my phone microphone issues by recording voice memos and the sound is definitely muffled and quiet. What are the common causes of phone microphone issues and how can I fix them? I've already tried cleaning the microphone port with compressed air.
Phone microphone issues can often be fixed by cleaning the microphone holes. They're tiny and get clogged with dust and pocket lint. Use a soft brush or compressed air, but be gentle. Also check if you have a case that might be covering the microphone.
Some phones have multiple microphones for noise cancellation. If one fails, it can cause phone microphone issues. Try recording in different modes like video vs voice memo to see if the problem is consistent across all microphone uses.
Check your phone's accessibility settings. Some have features that adjust microphone sensitivity or apply filters that might be causing your phone microphone issues. Also, make sure you haven't accidentally enabled any voice isolation or enhancement features.
