The speaker on my phone suddenly stopped working yesterday. I can hear calls through the earpiece but the main speaker for media and speakerphone is completely silent. Has anyone dealt with phone speaker not working issues before? Is this usually a software or hardware problem? Looking for troubleshooting tips before I take it to a repair shop.
When dealing with phone speaker not working issues, first check if it's software related. Play some audio and adjust the volume buttons. If you see the volume indicator moving but no sound, it's likely hardware. If the indicator doesn't move, could be software or settings.
Phone speaker not working is often due to debris blocking the speaker grill. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean it. Also check if you have any Bluetooth devices connected that might be routing audio elsewhere. Sometimes people forget they paired headphones.
Try booting in safe mode to rule out app interference. If the speaker works in safe mode, then an app is causing the phone speaker not working issue. You can then uninstall recent apps one by one to find which one is causing the problem.
