The camera market has changed so much in recent years. We have amazing smartphone cameras, mirrorless systems that keep getting better, and drones that can capture incredible footage.

I'm trying to figure out what camera gear worth the money actually makes sense to buy right now. If you're into photography or videography, where should you invest? Are expensive lenses still worth it when computational photography is getting so good? What about accessories like gimbals, lighting, or filters?

I'm particularly interested in gear that will still be relevant in a few years, not just the latest trend. What purchases have given you the most bang for your buck?

Lenses are still camera gear worth the money, even with computational photography improving. Good glass lasts decades and can be used on multiple camera bodies. A 50mm f/1.8 prime lens from any major brand is usually a great value and teaches you a lot about photography.

For camera bodies, mid range mirrorless cameras from Sony, Canon, or Fujifilm offer the best balance of features and price. The camera gear worth the money here gives you room to grow without breaking the bank.

Avoid buying the latest model just because it's new. Often, the previous generation offers 90% of the performance for 60% of the price.
A good tripod is camera gear worth the money that many people overlook. It enables long exposures, stable video, and consistent framing. Look for something sturdy but not overly heavy.

Lighting equipment is another area where spending on camera gear worth the money pays off. A simple LED panel or speedlight with a diffuser can improve your photos more than a better camera body. Good light makes everything look better.

For accessories, extra batteries and memory cards are boring but essential camera gear worth the money. Running out of power or storage during a shoot is frustrating.
Great point about tripods. I'd add that a camera bag or backpack designed for gear is camera gear worth the money too. Protecting your investment while making it easy to carry everything is important.

Also, consider used or refurbished camera gear worth the money. Camera bodies depreciate quickly, so buying a used professional model from a couple years ago can give you amazing performance at a fraction of the new price. Just buy from reputable sources with return policies.
