As someone who spends a lot of time listening to music, podcasts, and on calls, I'm always looking to improve my audio setup. But the audio market is flooded with overpriced gear that doesn't deliver.
I want to know what audio tech purchases are actually worth the money. We're talking headphones (wireless and wired), speakers (desktop and home theater), microphones for calls/streaming, and maybe even DACs/amps.
What have you bought that genuinely improved your listening experience or productivity? And what should people avoid despite the hype?
For headphones, the Sony WH-1000XM5 or Bose QuietComfort Ultra are audio tech purchases worth every penny if you need noise cancellation. The difference in travel comfort or focus ability is massive.
For wired listening, the Sennheiser HD 600 series are legendary for good reason. They're not flashy, but the sound quality for the price is exceptional. These are audio tech purchases that will last decades with proper care.
Avoid most gaming" headsets with RGB lights and crazy designs. You're paying for aesthetics over sound quality.
