What are some important game development industry insights that you wish you knew when you were starting out? Things about how the industry works, trends to watch, or realities of being an indie developer.

I'm particularly interested in game development success tips that are specific to the current industry landscape. Are there opportunities today that didn't exist a few years ago? Or challenges that are more significant now?

Also, any game development advice about navigating platforms like Steam, itch.io, or mobile app stores? The business side of game development doesn't get enough attention in beginner discussions.
