I've been seeing a ton of console accessories leaks lately, and some of these collector's editions are getting absolutely ridiculous with their pricing. We're talking $200+ for a game that comes with some statues and art books.

But at the same time, I have to admit some of these console collector's editions do look really cool. The attention to detail on some of them is impressive.

Where do you draw the line though? At what point does a collector's edition become too expensive for what you're actually getting? And with all the console trade-in programs available now, does it even make sense to buy these expensive editions if you might trade the game in later?
Console accessories leaks have been showing some really cool stuff lately. Some of the limited edition controllers look amazing. But yeah, the pricing on collector's editions is getting out of hand.

I draw the line at around $150 for a special edition. Beyond that, it better come with something really substantial, like a high-quality statue or art book.
Console trade-in programs make collector's editions tricky. If you're going to trade the game in later, you're stuck with all the extra stuff. Some places won't even take special editions for trade.

I usually only buy collector's editions for games I know I'll keep forever. Otherwise, standard edition is the way to go.
The attention to detail on some collector's editions is impressive, but you're right about the pricing. I've seen some that cost more than the console itself!

I think companies are testing how much people are willing to pay. As long as they keep selling out, prices will keep going up.
Digital deluxe editions are becoming more popular too. You get some bonus content without the physical clutter. But they don't have the same collectible value.

With all the console cloud gaming news, I wonder if physical collector's editions will become less common. Maybe they'll shift to digital art books and soundtracks instead.
