With all the E3 replacement news lately, it feels like the gaming events landscape is completely changing. Summer Game Fest announcements seem to be taking center stage, but then there's also PlayStation showcases, Xbox events, Nintendo Directs...

As someone who follows console game showcases religiously, I'm trying to figure out which events are actually worth watching live versus just catching the highlights. What's been your experience with these events lately?

Also, with all the console gaming community reactions to recent shows, do you think the spread-out event schedule is better or worse than having everything at E3?
The E3 replacement news has been really interesting to follow. Personally I think the spread-out schedule is better. Having everything crammed into one week was overwhelming, and smaller events got lost in the noise.

Summer Game Fest announcements have been solid, but I still make time for the individual platform events too. PlayStation showcases and Nintendo Directs usually have the biggest news for their respective ecosystems.
I miss the spectacle of E3 sometimes, but honestly the quality of shows has improved. Companies can take their time and do their own thing instead of rushing to prepare for one big event.

The console game showcases have been getting more polished too. Less awkward stage presentations, more pre-recorded footage that actually looks good.
I watch all the major events live if I can. There's something fun about experiencing the announcements with the console gaming community reactions in real time. The hype is contagious.

But if I miss one, I just catch the highlights later. Most of the important news gets summarized pretty quickly anyway.
The spread-out schedule is definitely better for developers too. They don't have to rush to meet an E3 deadline, and can announce things when they're actually ready.

I do worry about event fatigue though. When there's something every month, it's hard to maintain excitement. But so far, the console gaming community reactions seem positive overall.
