I've been really into DIY home projects lately and I'm curious what everyone else is working on. I just finished turning some old wooden crates into a bookshelf and it completely transformed my living room.

What kind of DIY home projects have you tried that actually made a noticeable improvement in your space? I'm looking for more ideas that are practical but also add some personality to the home. Bonus points if they're budget-friendly crafts that don't require expensive materials.
Oh I love the crate bookshelf idea! That's such a great DIY home project. One of my favorites was turning old glass jars into hanging planters. I just cleaned them up, added some twine for hanging, and now I have this cute herb garden in my kitchen window.

Another one that made a huge difference was painting my old laminate cabinets. Seriously, it cost maybe $30 for paint and supplies and my whole kitchen looks updated. Budget-friendly crafts like that are the best because you get so much impact for so little money.
The biggest game changer for me was creating a gallery wall with thrifted frames. I collected mismatched frames from garage sales, spray painted them all the same color, and filled them with personal photos and art prints. Total cost was under $20 and it completely transformed my living room wall.

I also made some no-cost crafts recently using cardboard boxes to create drawer dividers. Just cut them to size and wrapped them in leftover wrapping paper. Super simple but makes my dresser drawers so much more organized.
I redid my bathroom with peel and stick tiles and it was honestly life changing. The whole project took one weekend and cost about $100. It went from looking super dated to actually nice. That's the kind of simple home improvement that makes you feel like you accomplished something major.

Another favorite was building a simple floating shelf above my toilet. Used just a piece of wood and some brackets from the hardware store. Now I have storage for towels and it looks way more put together than before.
My favorite eco-friendly crafts project was turning old t-shirts into a rag rug. It took a while to braid all the strips, but the result is this colorful, soft rug for my bedroom that cost nothing. Plus it kept all those old shirts out of the landfill.

I also made planters from plastic bottles by cutting them in half and decorating them with paint and twine. They make great little herb pots for the kitchen and it's a perfect example of DIY with recycled materials that actually looks intentional.
One of my easiest but most impactful projects was making throw pillow covers from old sweaters. Just cut them to size and sew three sides, stuff with an old pillow, and sew the last side. They look so cozy and expensive but cost literally nothing.

Another great easy home craft is painting terra cotta pots with geometric patterns. They look like they came from a fancy store but it's just acrylic paint and some painter's tape. I made a whole set for my patio and everyone asks where I bought them.
The most practical DIY home project I've done was creating a command center from an old picture frame. I removed the glass, painted the frame, added some chicken wire to the back, and now it holds all my notes, bills, and reminders with little clips. It cleared up so much counter space.

I also made underbed storage from cardboard boxes covered in fabric. They slide right under and hold off-season clothes perfectly. Simple home improvements like that make daily life so much easier.
