I've been researching different portfolio presentation techniques and I'm curious what everyone thinks works best. There are so many approaches out there - from simple grid layouts to more narrative-driven presentations.

What portfolio presentation techniques have you found most effective for getting clients or employers to understand your value? I'm particularly interested in techniques that help tell a story about your work rather than just showing pretty pictures.
The most effective portfolio presentation techniques I've seen involve creating a narrative flow. Instead of just dumping images, guide the viewer through your thinking process. Use portfolio storytelling techniques to connect different projects and show your growth as a designer.
I'd emphasize portfolio user experience as a presentation technique. How easy is it to navigate? Can people find what they're looking for quickly? Good portfolio navigation design is itself a presentation technique that showcases your UX skills.
For design case studies portfolio entries, I recommend the before and after" technique. Show the original problem or existing design, then your solution, and explain why your approach was better. This makes your design process documentation much more compelling.
Don't forget about responsive design portfolio considerations as a presentation technique. How your work adapts to different screens says a lot about your attention to detail. A creative portfolio layout that works beautifully on desktop but breaks on mobile isn't really creative, it's just broken.
