There are so many podcast listening apps available now Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Pocket Casts, Overcast, etc. Which ones do you use and what features make them stand out? I'm curious about discovery features, playback controls, organization tools, and anything else that influences your choice of podcast listening apps.
I use Spotify for most of my podcast listening because I already have it for music. The integration is seamless and their recommendation algorithm has actually introduced me to some great new shows. The downside is that their organization features aren't as robust as some dedicated podcast listening apps.
I'm a Pocket Casts user and love the granular controls. Variable speed playback that doesn't make voices sound weird, silence trimming, volume boost all these features make listening more efficient. The discovery section is also well curated. It's one of the best podcast listening apps for power users who want control over their experience.
I use Apple Podcasts because it's built into my iPhone and just works seamlessly. The interface is clean and simple, which I appreciate. For discovering new podcast episodes, I wish their algorithm was better, but I supplement with other methods. The ability to create stations for different podcast genres is helpful for organizing my listening.
I switch between a few different podcast listening apps depending on what I'm looking for. Spotify for discovery, Overcast for its smart speed feature (removes silences), and Google Podcasts when I'm on Android devices. Each has strengths, but I wish there was one app that combined all the best features.
