We all have those gaming revelations that make us see game design in a new light. Sometimes it's a mechanic, sometimes it's a narrative choice, but these moments are often game-changing moments in gaming for us personally.

For me, playing Portal for the first time was a gaming revelation about how puzzles could be integrated into narrative. Another would be experiencing the emergent storytelling of RimWorld - watching stories unfold from systems rather than scripts was mind-blowing.

What are your most impactful video game scenes or mechanics that fundamentally changed how you understand what games can be?
