I'm always fascinated by how games can create such strong video game emotional connections. There are certain scenes that just hit differently and stay with you forever.

For me, the ending of The Last of Us Part II was one of those gaming revelations that completely changed how I view storytelling in games. The complexity of emotions, the moral ambiguity - it was a defining gaming moment that made me sit in silence for like 20 minutes after finishing.

Another one would be the final conversation with Garrus in Mass Effect 3 if you've built that friendship throughout the trilogy. That felt like saying goodbye to a real friend.

What gaming memories that stick with you created the strongest emotional connections?
The ending of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons absolutely destroyed me. Without spoiling too much, the way the game uses its control scheme to deliver an emotional payoff is something only games could do. That was a gaming revelation about how mechanics can enhance storytelling.

Another one would be the final choice in Life is Strange. I sat there for like 15 minutes just staring at the screen, genuinely torn about what to do. The fact that a game could make me care that much about fictional characters and their fates created such a strong video game emotional connection.
The opera scene in Final Fantasy VI still gives me chills every time. The combination of the music, the staging, the character moments - it's one of those gaming soundtrack emotional moments that transcends its technical limitations. You can tell it was made with such care and passion.

Also, the moment in To the Moon when you finally understand what's really happening. That game builds such a quiet, melancholic atmosphere and then delivers an emotional gut punch that left me crying. It's amazing how a simple RPG Maker game could create such powerful video game emotional connections.
The ending of Chrono Trigger has always stuck with me. After spending so much time with these characters and saving the world, seeing them all go their separate ways with that beautiful music playing... it's one of those retro gaming memorable moments that still holds up.

Another one would be the death of Aerith in Final Fantasy VII. Even though everyone knows about it now, at the time it was a complete shock. That moment taught me that games could have real stakes and consequences, which was a gaming revelation for my younger self.
The final mission in Mass Effect 3, specifically saying goodbye to all your squadmates before the final push. Those conversations felt so real and meaningful after three games of building those relationships. That created some of the strongest video game emotional connections I've ever experienced.

Also, the ending of What Remains of Edith Finch, when you finally understand the family curse. The way it's presented through gameplay rather than just cutscenes made the emotional impact so much stronger. That was a gaming narrative breakthrough in showing rather than telling.
The moment in Shadow of the Colossus when you realize what you've actually been doing the whole game. That slow dawning horror as you piece together the consequences of your actions... it's one of those gaming revelations that completely recontextualizes everything.

Also, the ending of Silent Hill 2, especially the In Water" ending. The way it ties together James's guilt and self-loathing is just devastating. That game creates such a powerful sense of dread and melancholy that builds to an incredibly emotional conclusion.
