I keep hearing about reliable hosting for startups, but what does that actually mean in practical terms? Is it different from what an established business needs?
For a startup, cash flow is tight and every dollar counts, but we also can't afford to have our website down during critical growth periods. I'm trying to understand what specific features make hosting truly reliable for startups versus just being "good enough" for personal projects.
Things I'm considering: uptime guarantees (and whether they actually honor them), scalability options, backup policies, and security features. Also, how important is it to have staging environments or easy migration tools when you're just starting out?
Are there particular hosting types (shared, VPS, cloud) that work better for startups in terms of balancing cost and reliability? I'd love to hear from other startup founders about what they wish they knew when choosing their first hosting provider.
