I've got about $100 to spend on upgrading my hybrid bike and want to make the most of it. What are the best budget-friendly bike components I should consider? I'm looking for under $100 cycling improvements that will make my rides more enjoyable. The bike works fine mechanically, but it's pretty basic. I'm thinking about things like a better saddle, pedals, or maybe some affordable bike comfort upgrades. What would you prioritize if you had $100 to spend on improving a decent but basic bike?
With $100, I'd split it between a good saddle and pedals. A comfortable saddle makes every ride better, and proper pedals improve power transfer. You can find decent options in both categories that fit within a $100 total budget for under $100 cycling improvements.
I'd add tires to that list. Maybe $40 on tires, $40 on a saddle, and $20 on grips or small accessories. Tires affect everything - comfort, speed, handling. A good saddle prevents discomfort. Those two together will transform a basic bike into something much more enjoyable.
Don't forget about fit. If you have $100, consider spending some on a basic bike fit or fit accessories. A $20 stem that puts you in a better position can make more difference than $100 components in the wrong position. Affordable bike comfort upgrades start with proper fit.
I like the tire and saddle combo. Also, consider lights if you ride in low light conditions. Good lights are safety equipment that also makes riding more pleasant. You can get decent front and rear lights for $30-40 total, leaving room for other improvements.
