I keep hearing about the business networking importance from everyone, but I'm wondering how much of it is actually essential versus just nice to have.

I've been running my small consulting firm for about two years now, and while I've made some connections, I haven't really focused on systematic networking. Some people swear by it, saying it's brought them their biggest clients, while others seem to do fine just through online marketing.

What's your experience with business networking? Has it been crucial for your business, or is it overrated?
