I've been thinking about the role of memories in personal identity, and it's raising some interesting questions about philosophy of identity.

On one hand, memories seem crucial to who we are. Our experiences shape us, and remembering them helps maintain a sense of continuity. People with severe memory loss often feel like different people.

On the other hand, memories are unreliable. We forget things, remember them differently over time, sometimes even create false memories. If identity depends on memory, and memory is fallible, what does that mean?

I'm also thinking about how digital technology is changing this. With photos, videos, social media posts, we have external records of our past selves. Does this affect how we think about identity?

How do others think about the relationship between memory and identity? Do you feel like your memories define who you are?
