Full Version: How do different ethical frameworks approach the same moral dilemma?

I've been studying different ethical frameworks lately utilitarianism, deontology, virtue ethics, care ethics and it's fascinating how they approach the same moral dilemmas differently.

Take a classic dilemma like whether to lie to protect someone's feelings. A utilitarian might weigh the happiness caused versus the harm. A deontologist might say lying is always wrong. A virtue ethicist might consider what a virtuous person would do.

What I find interesting is that most people don't consistently follow one framework. We might use different approaches in different situations, or mix elements from multiple frameworks.

I'm curious how others think about this. Do you consciously follow a particular ethical framework? Or do you use a more intuitive approach? Have you ever changed your mind about a moral issue after considering it from a different ethical perspective?
