Full Version: What's the difference between reality and our perception of it? Reality vs perceptio

I've been thinking a lot about reality vs perception lately. How much of what we experience is actually "out there" versus constructed by our brains?

We know our senses are limited. We only see a small part of the electromagnetic spectrum, hear a limited range of frequencies. Our brains fill in gaps, make assumptions, interpret everything through the lens of our past experiences.

This makes me wonder how different reality might look to different creatures, or even to different people. If two people experience the same event differently, which version is "real"?

And what about things like optical illusions or hallucinations? They feel real in the moment, but we know they don't correspond to external reality.

How do you all navigate this gap between what is and what we perceive? Does thinking about this change how you interact with the world?
