I've been thinking about vintage gaming hardware lately and what's actually worth collecting versus what's better experienced through emulation. Some old consoles and accessories have aged beautifully, while others are more trouble than they're worth.
For me, the Super Nintendo is probably the best vintage gaming hardware to own. The controllers are comfortable, the games look great on CRTs, and the system is relatively reliable. The Sega Genesis is another solid choice, especially if you get a model 1 with the better sound chip.
But I'm curious what other people think. What vintage gaming hardware do you still use regularly? What should collectors look for, and what should they avoid? I'm especially interested in mods and upgrades that can make old hardware work better with modern displays.
