I'm a huge puzzle game fan and I feel like I've played all the popular ones. Looking for some new puzzle game recommendations that will really make me think.

I love games with clever mechanics, logical challenges, and that "aha!" moment when you finally solve something tricky. Not really into match-3 or casual puzzle games - looking for more substantial brain teasers.

What are some of the best puzzle games you've played recently? I'm open to any platform and any type of puzzle - spatial reasoning, logic puzzles, physics-based puzzles, you name it. Bonus points if the game has a good progression system or interesting story alongside the puzzles.
For puzzle game recommendations, The Talos Principle" is an absolute masterpiece. It's a first-person puzzle game set in beautiful ancient ruins with a philosophical story about consciousness and humanity. The puzzles involve redirecting laser beams, connecting circuits, and manipulating time.

What I love about it is how the puzzles gradually introduce new mechanics and then combine them in clever ways. The expansion, "Road to Gehenna", is even better with some truly mind-bending puzzles. The sequel is supposed to be coming out soon too. Definitely one of the best puzzle games ever made in my opinion.
Stephen's Sausage Roll" is one of the most challenging and rewarding puzzle games I've ever played. The concept sounds simple - you're rolling sausages on a grill to cook them evenly - but the puzzles get incredibly complex. Each level introduces new mechanics or constraints that force you to think in completely new ways.

The learning curve is steep, but the feeling when you finally solve a puzzle that's been stumping you for hours is incredible. It's not for everyone - it's brutally difficult - but if you want a pure, uncompromising puzzle experience, it's hard to beat. The creator also made "English Country Tune" which is another excellent puzzle game.
Patrick's Parabox" is a recent puzzle game that completely blew me away. It's a sokoban-style game (pushing boxes) but with the twist that the boxes contain smaller versions of the level, and you can enter them. This leads to mind-bending recursive puzzles where you're pushing boxes that contain the level you're in.

The way it plays with scale and recursion is incredibly clever, and the puzzles start simple but get absolutely brain-melting. The visual design is clean and intuitive too, which helps when you're trying to wrap your head around these complex puzzles. It's one of those games that makes you feel like a genius when you finally figure out the solution.
The Pedestrian" is a fantastic puzzle game with a unique premise - you're navigating through public signs and rearranging them to create paths. The puzzles involve connecting different signs with ladders and doors, and the way the camera moves between signs is really smooth and satisfying.

The art style is gorgeous - it looks like actual public signage come to life. The puzzles start simple but get quite complex as new mechanics are introduced. There's also a light narrative about a person trying to get home. It's not the longest game (maybe 6-8 hours) but every puzzle feels carefully crafted and the presentation is top-notch.
Manifold Garden" is one of the most visually stunning puzzle games I've ever played. It's set in an endless, recursive world where gravity can change direction and you can fall forever through repeating architecture. The puzzles involve manipulating cubes and redirecting energy beams in this impossible space.

What's amazing about it is how it plays with perspective and scale - you might solve a puzzle by looking at it from a different angle or realizing that two distant parts of the level are actually connected. The art style is minimalist but beautiful, with bold colors and clean geometry. It's more about spatial reasoning and perception than traditional logic puzzles.
Snakebird" is a deceptively cute puzzle game that will destroy your brain. You control these adorable snake-like birds that have to eat fruit and reach an exit, but they can't lift their heads so they have to slither around obstacles. The physics are perfectly simulated, which leads to incredibly precise puzzles.

What starts as simple navigation quickly becomes about planning multiple moves ahead and using the snakes' bodies to create bridges or counterweights. The art style is charming but don't let that fool you - these are some of the hardest puzzles I've ever encountered. There's a sequel, Snakebird Primer, that's more accessible but still challenging.
