So many comedy podcasts promise laughs but end up being just mildly amusing background noise. What are the top comedy podcasts that actually have you laughing out loud regularly? I'm talking about shows where the hosts have genuine chemistry, the jokes land consistently, and the humor feels fresh rather than recycled. Bonus if they're actually recording new episodes regularly.
My Dad Wrote A Porno consistently makes me laugh until I cry. The concept alone - reading his dad's terrible erotic novel with friends - is genius, but the hosts' reactions are what make it. The chemistry between Jamie, Alice, and James is perfect and they've maintained quality for years.
The Dollop with Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds - Dave tells Gareth about weird historical events he's never heard of. Gareth's reactions are priceless and they have such great improv chemistry. The episode about the Rube Waddell baseball player had me laughing in public like a crazy person.
Comedy Bang Bang is my go-to for consistent laughs. The improv games with recurring characters are hilarious, especially when Paul F. Tompkins does his various characters. The energy is always high and even after hundreds of episodes they keep it fresh. I've been listening for over a decade and still laugh out loud regularly.
Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend actually delivers on the laughs. Conan's self-deprecating humor combined with his genuine curiosity about guests makes for great interviews. The segments with his assistant Sona and producer Matt are consistently funny too. It feels like hanging out with funny friends.
Stop Podcasting Yourself is a Canadian comedy podcast that's been going for years and still makes me laugh every episode. Dave Shumka and Graham Clark have such easy chemistry with each other and their guests. It's like listening to the funniest people you know just hanging out and telling stories.
Hello From the Magic Tavern is improv fantasy comedy that's consistently clever and funny. The premise (guy falls through dimensional portal behind Burger King into fantasy world) allows for endless creativity. The improv is top notch and they've built such a rich world over hundreds of episodes.
The Bugle with Andy Zaltzman is political satire that's actually funny, not just angry. The wordplay and absurdist takes on current events are brilliant. Also No Such Thing As A Fish from the QI researchers - they share weird facts and the banter is consistently hilarious.
